Jyko – National Coalition Students of Jyväskylä
Jyko is the local branch of the Student Union of National Coalition Party (Tuhatkunta), Finland’s largest and most influential student political movement. We take great pride in representing the key issues that concern the wellbeing of students in Jyväskylä.
As members of the largest political party in Finland, our reach extends well beyond the borders of the university alone. We are the voice of students within Kokoomus and bring forth our party’s message to the students. Active members in Jyko have a unique opportunity to make their impact to the Finnish society and gain a deeper understanding of how things work here in the north.
You’re more than likely to make lots of friends on the way and have fun, too!
I’m an international degree or an exchange student in Jyväskylä – can I still participate?
Yes! All international students enrolled in the University of Jyväskylä are full-fledged members of the student union and can thus participate in Jyko activities for the time they study in Jyväskylä.
JYY – Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä is the common organization of all students enrolled at the university. The student union oversees the interests and rights of the students and the management of services, such as student housing. Every two years, each university in Finland elects a council of representatives for the student union. As the voice of the students, the council is the highest decision making body in a student union.
The Student Union of JAMK University of Applied Sciences – JAMKO is a non-aligned trusteeship and service organization for students of JAMK University of Applied Sciences. Until the year 2005 this work was done in the form of JAMKO registered association. The highest authority in the Student Union of JAMK University of Applied Sciences JAMKO is in the JAMKO representatives, consisting of 25 members and 25 vice members. The representatives supervise the interests of the JAMK students by making the big decisions and guidelines in the student union. Every year JAMKO members choose the new representatives.
